SOS Tour: The Glorious Sons and The Beaches - Winnipeg, MB

Updated: Jan 15, 2023

Currently on their SOS Tour across Canada are The Glorious Sons. With them on the nationwide trek is fellow Canadian alternative rock band The Beaches. The two bands made their way to Winnipeg, Manitoba, on November 16th and 17th for two sold-out shows at the historic Burton Cummings Theatre.

From Toronto, Canada, The Beaches broke the silence of the night as the opening act. They performed from the gamut of their releases for approximately 40 minutes to the raucous sold-out audience. Notably, the band performed the songs “Back of My Heart,” “T-Shirt,” “Gold,” “Money,” “Late Show,” and their newly released single, “Fascination,” to name a few.

Based out of Kingston, Ontario, The Glorious Sons took the stage soon after The Beaches and rocked The Burt with such vigour that the real Burton Cummings must have felt it. Performing an impressive set of twenty songs that lasted just shy of two hours, the band was sure to deliver during the first sold-out show of a two-night stop in Winnipeg.

The songs performed by The Glorious Sons that deserve recognition are “My Poor Heart,” “Everything Is Alright,” a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Gimmie Shelter,” and “Kill the Lights.”

There aren’t words to describe the energy radiating from the crowd inside the Burton Cummings Theatre that night. Every voice in the venue was belting the words back at the band whenever a sing-along had been called for. This show was on a whole other scale than any I’ve experienced before. It shouldn’t be too long before the band returns to Winnipeg to sell out another show or two and bring that same tempo and energy with them once again.
