BABYMONSTER - DRIP

Bold pink graffiti-style text "DRIP" on a dark purple background. "BABYMONSTER" is written in smaller pink text at the bottom right.

BABYMONSTER make their most confident statement yet on their debut album, DRIP, which was released on November 1, 2024. The group’s first full-length album doesn’t just aim to solidify their place within YG Entertainment’s legacy—it actively reshapes it. Across nine tracks, DRIP balances swagger and vulnerability, high-gloss production and heartfelt emotion, proving that BABYMONSTER are more than a next-generation act—they’re already carving out their own lane.

The album opens with “CLIK CLAK,” an explosive introduction that leans heavily into YG’s signature bravado. Pulsing bass, sharp percussion, and commanding delivery immediately establish the group’s confidence. It’s bold, unapologetic, and sets the tone for what follows. The album's title track, “DRIP,” keeps that momentum going, blending hip-hop grit with a sleek pop structure. The chorus is instantly infectious, and the members’ distinct vocal tones shine as they trade lines with ease, making the track feel both powerful and polished.

One of DRIP’s biggest strengths is its versatility. “Love, Maybe” and “Really Like You” offer a softer contrast, showcasing the group’s emotional range. These pair of tracks lean into warm melodies and romantic lyricism, allowing BABYMONSTER to display vulnerability without losing their edge. “Love, Maybe” in particular stands out as a gentle, heartfelt moment, highlighting the group’s vocal harmonies and emotional delivery.

Confidence returns in full force with “BILLIONAIRE,” a track that feels tailor-made for stages and fan chants. It’s flashy, energetic, and brimming with self-assurance, while the following number, “Love In My Heart,” slows things down again, grounding the album with sincerity and warmth. The song’s introspective tone adds depth, making the album feel thoughtfully paced rather than one-dimensional.

A standout moment of the album arrives with “Woke Up In Tokyo (RUKA & ASA),” a unit track that allows the duo to shine individually. With its rap edge and very playful attitude, the song highlights BABYMONSTER's charisma and performance power, offering a glimpse of their future potential for sub-units and solo ventures.

“FOREVER” feels like an emotional anchor near the album’s end, reflecting themes of loyalty, growth, and connection. It’s a fitting penultimate track, leading seamlessly into “BATTER UP (Remix)” as a bonus closer. The remix reinvigorates their breakout single with fresh energy, serving as both a reminder of where BABYMONSTER began and how far they’ve already come.

Overall, DRIP is a bold and cohesive debut album that successfully balances YG Entertainment’s iconic style with BABYMONSTER’s emerging identity. It’s confident without being overbearing, polished without losing personality. More importantly, it proves that BABYMONSTER are not just living up to expectations—they’re actively exceeding them. DRIP isn’t just an introduction; it’s a declaration.
