  • Greatest Hits Tour: Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, and Fefe Dobson

Avril Lavigne's Greatest Hits Tour  arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on September 14, 2024, for what was a spectacular evening of nostalgia, punk-pop anthems, and special guest performances. The show at the Canada Life Centre marked one of the final stops on Lavigne's tour, and the addition of fellow Canadian icon Fefe Dobson made the night even more electric. Kicking off the night, Fefe Dobson's return to the stage was nothing short of electrifying. Known for her fierce attitude and alt-rock hits, Dobson was met with roaring applause as she launched into "Ghost," setting the tone for her high-energy set. The crowd sang along to fan favourites like "SHUT UP AND KISS ME" and "Bye Bye Boyfriend," her mix of punk and pop-rock still as fresh as ever. The emotional "Stuttering" closed her set, with Dobson commanding the stage in a performance that felt like a victory lap for one of Canada's most underappreciated pop-punk heroines. Her chemistry with the crowd was undeniable, and her inclusion for the final leg of the tour was a perfect fit, amping up the energy early on. Simple Plan took the stage next, delivering a setlist packed with pop-punk classics that catapulted the audience back to the early 2000s. Starting strong with "I'd Do Anything" and "Shut Up!," the band had the crowd bouncing, reliving their rebellious teenage years. A surprise highlight came when Fefe Dobson rejoined the stage for a duet on "Jet Lag," their voices blending effortlessly, making it a standout moment. Their mashup of Smash Mouth's "All Star" and The Killers' "Mr. Brightside" added an unexpected twist of nostalgia and humour, while their rendition of "What's New Scooby-Doo?" was a playful treat, made even more memorable with a Scooby-Doo mascot dancing on stage. The band ended on a heartfelt note, with songs like "Untitled" and "Perfect" bringing emotional depth to their set. Simple Plan knows how to balance fun and sentimentality, and they delivered a performance that was as much about celebrating their journey as it was about connecting with longtime fans. When Avril Lavigne finally hit the stage, the atmosphere in the arena shifted to a fever pitch. Starting with the infectious "Girlfriend," she immediately brought the energy to a new level, and it didn't let up from there. Lavigne, clad in her signature punk style, effortlessly moved through her catalogue of hits like "Complicated" and "Here's to Never Growing Up," each one met with cheers and a sea of fans singing every word. The show was filled with surprises. Simple Plan joined her for a spirited cover of their own song "Addicted," with Lavigne adding her unmistakable edge to the track. Fefe Dobson then returned for a collaboration on blink-182’s "All the Small Things," a powerful, crowd-pleasing moment that showcased all three acts uniting in punk-rock harmony. Although Lavigne's set featured shorter versions of "Hot" and "When You're Gone," the pacing kept the energy flowing. Deep cuts like "Nobody's Home" and "Losing Grip" provided a rawer, more emotional side to the night, reminding fans of Lavigne's versatility as both a performer and songwriter. The encore, however, stole the show. Returning with "Head Above Water," Lavigne showcased the vocal power and resilience that has kept her career thriving. She closed with "I'm With You," leaving the crowd in a state of bliss, swaying with arms raised, the emotion of the night pouring out in a collective singalong. Avril Lavigne's Greatest Hits Tour  in Winnipeg was a masterclass in pop-punk nostalgia, filled with high-energy performances, emotional moments, and unforgettable collaborations. Fefe Dobson brought a fierce edge to the night, and Simple Plan was as fun and heartfelt as ever. But it was Lavigne who reminded everyone why she's still the queen of pop-punk, her voice and presence commanding the stage with every hit. Fans left the arena with hoarse voices and full hearts, a perfect end to a tour that celebrated not only Lavigne's greatest hits but an era of music that defined a generation. • LISA - Alter Ego

LISA, the world-renowned rapper, singer, dancer, style icon, and member of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, has officially stepped into the spotlight with her highly anticipated debut solo album, Alter Ego , released on February 28, 2025, via LLOUD Co. and RCA Records. With a career defined by record-breaking achievements as a member of BLACKPINK and a powerhouse solo artist, expectations for Alter Ego  were immense. LISA delivers a project that is bold, multifaceted, and full of high-energy moments, but does it truly capture her artistic essence? The album revolves around LISA’s five distinct alter egos—Vixi, Sunni, Roxi, Kiki, and Speedi—each representing a different facet of her personality. This ambitious concept, illustrated through a star emblem, suggests a deeply personal exploration of her identity. However, while the album hints at these personas through varying sonic styles and moods, the execution feels somewhat superficial. Rather than a cohesive narrative of self-exploration, Alter Ego  often leans on its impressive guest features to create standout moments. Standout Tracks: “Born Again” (feat. Doja Cat and RAYE):  The album kicks off with a high-energy pop-rap banger, bringing together three global superstars in a track brimming with empowerment and attitude. The chemistry between the trio is electric, with Doja Cat’s slick delivery and RAYE’s signature melodies complementing LISA’s effortless swagger. “Rockstar” : A defining moment of the album, “Rockstar” sees LISA at her most confident, blending dexterous raps with energetic pop vocals. Produced by Ryan Tedder and Sam Homaee, the track is both infectious and commanding, living up to its title. “New Woman” (feat. Rosalía):  A standout collaboration, this track seamlessly fuses LISA’s razor-sharp rap delivery with Rosalía’s flamenco-infused vocals. Produced by Max Martin & ILYA, the song radiates strength and independence. “Moonlit Floor” : One of the album’s most intriguing moments, LISA reimagines Sixpence None The Richer’s 90s classic “Kiss Me” with a dreamy, moonlit production. The interpolation adds a nostalgic charm while showcasing her delicate vocals and smooth rap flow. “FXCK UP THE WORLD” (feat. Future):  Arguably, LISA’s most audacious track, this hard-hitting hip-hop anthem thrives on aggressive production and unapologetic lyricism. Future’s presence amplifies the song’s intensity, marking one of the album’s most memorable moments. “Rapunzel” (feat. Megan Thee Stallion):  With an empowering theme of self-love and resilience, this track finds LISA and Megan at their fiercest, celebrating individuality and rejecting societal norms. “Dream” : A rare vulnerable moment on Alter Ego , the album's only ballad reflects on a past relationship, offering raw emotion in contrast to the album’s otherwise bold and brash energy. Alter Ego  is a confident, high-energy debut that cements LISA as a formidable solo force. However, while the album shines in moments of collaboration and bold production, it sometimes lacks the depth and cohesion to fully realize its ambitious concept of its five characters—but that should be explained further in an upcoming comic book LISA is releasing later this month. The strongest moments come when LISA leans into her unique identity rather than relying on the star power of her featured artists. Despite some inconsistencies, Alter Ego  is an exciting showcase of her versatility and an undeniable step forward in her solo career. Find out more from LISA: Instagram

  • Fionn Unleash New Alt-Rock Single "BLOW"

Unapologetic alt-rock duo FIONN unleash formidable tour de force “BLOW” (604 Records), the newest single and music video (Directed by Matt Miller) added to their fiery arsenal. Its rebellious euphoria is as dynamic as Brianne and Alanna’s personas, one moment exuding dreamy vulnerability, the next bursting with riotous energy. “Blow” is the soundtrack of cathartic female rage wrapped up in an unwavering, high-driving rock banger. It isn’t just noise, it’s a statement railing against the patriarchal status-quo. Recommended for fans of JJ Wilde, The Beaches, HAIM, and 4 Non-Blondes. Stream “Blow” Here! Watch the “Blow” Music Video Here! “BLOW is about the interactions we experience as women in the professional world and the constant feeling of having to bite our tongues when men talk down to us or question our abilities based on how they perceive us. We feel this is especially prevalent in the male-dominated music industry. As women, we’ve been conditioned to mask anger and remain sweet even when we are being disrespected,” explains Brianne and Alanna Finn-Morris. “If we hear one more man ask us if we know how to plug in our guitars, we’re going to blow. We’ve been playing guitar professionally since we were 15.” Recently, Fionn wowed audiences around the world with their viral on-the-spot cover of System of a Down’s “Toxicity” (Musora), adding to their already impressive catalogue. In October 2024, the twin sisters dropped “Snake Behavior” , ahead of their national tour with rock juggernaut JJ Wilde. It is the third single to come off Fionn’s upcoming fourth studio record, out later this year. It sees the duo ushering in a new era of fierce style where their unparalleled knack for songwriting truly shines. “Snake Behavior” follows earlier singles “ Bad At Being Casual ” and “Your Type”. Highly recommended for fans of Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette and The Warning, Fionn are bridging the gap between Gen Z’s fascination with 2000s pop-nostalgia and Millennial branded angsty garage rock chic, giving them a vibrant, yet uniquely crafted edge. With millions of streams and video views online, Fionn have proven that they are a force to be reckoned with. They have earned the coveted Next Magazine cover, rocked a CBC Top 20 ( TAKE ME OUT! ) single, and a Top 30 Alternative Rock single ( I MIGHT START SMOKING!! ) to boot. In 2023, Fionn released their third studio record. I Might Start Smoking. The sexy 12-track record features infectious bangers, including “Leo” ,   “Goldfish”, and “18” . Just as addictive as nicotine, it serves as a full-circle moment, seeing the duo revisit the sound and spirit of their heralded first releases. Though their path to this point has been anything but predictable, Fionn are cementing themselves as a force to be reckoned with. After all, the twin sisters only dropped their self-titled debut in 2018, though they’ve been quite prolific since. They’ve developed a songwriting palette in a few short years that even career artists would kill for. When you start off in a band you feel like Slurms Mackenzie (the Futurama party slug). You can’t believe it’s your job to travel around the world and drink beer and make music with your friends. And then one morning you look around, and all your friends are getting married, and you think, maybe all I really want is to grow old, and get a dog, and write horrible things about Brooklyn Beckham on Facebook, and go on cruises, and have petty disputes with my neighbours about whether the council recycles cardboard.” Sports Team talked exclusively to American Songwriter  about the single, and their forthcoming album, stating “ the single touches on a particular brand of British couple core–mainly settling down in suburban neighborhoods and living comfortably–could be mistaken for a satire or a dismissal of this culture.” As Sports Team explains to American Songwriter, the song is “being very sincere… it’s not playing for laughs.” Elsewhere, Under The Radar described the track as “a melodic, uplifting tribute to everyday relationships, blending influences from classic British pop to wistful new wave sounds.” “ Maybe When We’re 30” will feature on Sports Team’s upcoming studio album, Boys These Days, out May 23rd on Distiller Records/Bright Antenna. • Your Favorite Color Drops "Bleach," A Haunting Indie Alt-Rock Anthem

Watch the Video Here Stream “Bleach” Here Indie alt-rock band Your Favorite Color kicks off 2025 with the release of their first single of the year, “Bleach.” A storm of raw emotion and ethereal melodies, “Bleach” is the silent scream of a mind trapped between the past and redemption. With immersive production and deeply introspective lyrics, the track takes listeners on a gripping journey of self-discovery, guilt and the struggle to find clarity amidst chaos. “We consider the listener in everything we do, and we’re always trying to think about how the emotion is going to reach them,” frontman Matt tells Rock Sound. The chorus—haunting in its repetition of “Everything I wanna say to you tastes like bleach”—perfectly captures the agony of unspoken words and the weight of regret. The song’s dynamic instrumentation builds an atmosphere that instantly resonates with audiences searching for authenticity and emotional depth in music. More than just a song, “Bleach” is an emotional manifesto for a generation grappling with anxiety, nostalgia and the need for closure. Accompanying the single is a stunningly cinematic music video that further amplifies “Bleach’s” thematic intensity. The video opens with a striking wide shot of a crow trapped in a cage. As the camera slowly dollies in, it ends on an extreme close-up of the bird’s eye, echoing the track’s themes of entrapment and introspection. The visual narrative unfolds with frontman Matt cradling the crow as he faces his own ego—staring into a reflection of himself that shifts and transforms into a darker persona. As he fades into the void, the music video blends revolving shots of the band performing, interspersed with slow-shutter footage and vintage ‘80s film aesthetics, capturing the song’s dreamlike yet raw energy. The release of “Bleach” follows a milestone year for the band. From their cover of the Thompson Twins’ 1984 hit “Hold Me Now” to their single “Medicine” going viral on Instagram to the release of their debut album For You, their rapidly growing fanbase has solidified their undeniable appeal. • Eric Bass Presents - I Had A Name

Eric Bass, best known as the bassist, co-songwriter, and producer of Shinedown, steps into the spotlight with his ambitious self-released debut solo album, Eric Bass Presents: I Had A Name , due out February 28, 2025. A concept album that unfolds within a richly crafted world, I Had A Name  showcases Bass’s immense creative range as he single-handedly wrote, recorded, and produced the entire twelve-track record. With a blend of grand storytelling, deep introspection, and an expansive sonic palette, this album delivers a powerful statement from an artist stepping beyond the boundaries of his established role. From its inception, I Had A Name  was designed to be more than just an album—it’s a sprawling narrative experience. Inspired by a story Bass first outlined in a Milan hotel room during Shinedown’s Attention Attention  tour in 2019, the album doesn’t follow a strict chronological structure but instead offers snapshots of pivotal moments within the grand world Bass has constructed. Each song serves as a vignette, introducing characters and conflicts that reflect larger themes of war, power, survival, and self-discovery. While I Had A Name  immerses itself in high-concept storytelling, it also turns inward, exploring Bass’s personal experiences with mental health and neurodivergence. Though these struggles weren’t consciously woven into the writing process, he later realized how deeply they influenced the album’s emotional core. The duality of external conflict and internal turmoil makes this a gripping listen from start to finish. Standout Tracks: "Mind Control" – Released as the album’s first single, this track introduces the character, Devaren, who embodies the creeping influence of depression. With a brooding atmosphere, distorted guitars, and anthemic crescendos, the song encapsulates both the allure and destruction of unchecked power and self-loathing. "Azalia" – Perhaps the album’s most dynamic track, "Azalia" follows one of the story’s main protagonists, a former warrior monk-turned-assassin seeking revenge against those responsible for her mother’s death. The song is both cinematic and pulse-pounding, blending haunting melodies with crushing instrumentals that mirror her relentless pursuit of justice. "The New Gods of War" – A thunderously heavy anthem that delves into the themes of political manipulation and societal control. The track’s layered production and grandiose instrumentation make it a standout moment in the album’s larger narrative. "Wanna Go To Hell" – A dark yet fun, introspective album closer that brings the album full circle, questioning morality, fate, and redemption. It leaves listeners with a lingering sense of unease and curiosity, as if the story is far from over. Bass’s background in Shinedown’s chart-topping rock anthems is evident, but I Had A Name  expands far beyond that territory. The album traverses a range of influences, from progressive rock to industrial and cinematic soundscapes. The production is meticulous, with layers of intricate instrumentation creating an immersive listening experience. His ability to shift from soaring choruses to hushed, introspective moments adds to the album’s dynamism. Lyrically, the album is as much a philosophical exploration as it is a character-driven narrative. Bass crafts lyrics that work on multiple levels—both as pieces of the larger story and as deeply personal reflections. The characters represent different facets of his own struggles and triumphs, making the album an emotional and cathartic listen. Eric Bass Presents: I Had A Name  is a bold and unapologetic artistic statement. It challenges conventions, both musically and conceptually, while offering fans a deeply personal look at Bass’s creative mind. Fans of Shinedown will find echoes of his signature style, but this album is distinctly his own, breaking new ground with its ambitious storytelling and sonic experimentation. For those seeking an immersive, thought-provoking rock record that balances raw emotion with grand world-building, I Had A Name  is an essential listen. This is more than just a solo debut—it’s the beginning of an entirely new artistic chapter for Eric Bass. • Wake the Dead 20th Anniversary Tour: Comeback Kid, Cancer Bats, Orthodox, Meantime, and Pink Snot - Winnipeg, MB

Winnipeg hardcore legends Comeback Kid launched their Wake the Dead 20th Anniversary Tour with an electrifying hometown show at the Burton Cummings Theatre, proving that two decades later, their seminal 2005 album still ignites chaos in the pit. The night was a celebration of hardcore across generations, featuring a stacked lineup that set the stage for an unforgettable evening. Pink Snot. Photos by Samuel Stevens Photography The night opened with two back-to-back fifteen-minute sets from local punk acts Pinksnot and Meantime. First was Pink Snot, bringing their high-energy punk rock to an already buzzing crowd. Their short but fierce set included songs "Race of Doom," "Slip Away," "Let This Die," and "Dead Messenger," delivering blistering riffs and raw aggression to set the tone for the night. Meantime followed with an unmatched momentum with a relentless assault of fast-paced punk rock. The band's intensity and stage presence ensured that no one in the venue was standing still. Meantime. Photos by Samuel Stevens Photography Nashville's Orthodox took the energy up another level with their signature mix of chaotic metalcore and hardcore groove. Their set featured fan favourites like "Chameleon," "Head on a Spike," and "Panic," but it was their new, unreleased song "Dread Weight" that had fans buzzing. A major highlight of their set was when they performed their brand new single, "Commit to Consequence," which was performed with Comeback Kid's Andrew Neufeld, not only marking it as one of the first live performances of the song, released only days before the show, but the first time with Andrew. Orthodox closed their set with "The Anticipation," leaving the audience primed for what was to come. Orthodox. Photos by Samuel Stevens Photography The ever-unrelenting Cancer Bats delivered a ferocious set, paying homage to their own deep roots in Canadian hardcore. Classics like "Gatekeeper," "Hail Destroyer," and "Lucifer’s Rocking Chair" had the crowd in a frenzy, while "Winterpeg"—their ode to Winnipeg—was a clear fan favourite with the audience. Before the band capped off their set, they performed their now well-known explosive cover of the Beastie Boys’ "Sabotage," ensuring the energy never faltered before the main event. Cancer Bats. Photos by Samuel Stevens Photography From the moment Comeback Kid hit the stage, it was clear this wasn’t just any other show—it was a milestone in the band's history, marking both twenty years since the release of their second album, Wake the Dead , and twenty-five years as a band. The opening blast of "False Idols Fall" had the entire theatre shaking, and the intensity only escalated from there. A defining moment of the night came early when original vocalist Scott Wade and original drummer Kyle Profeta joined the band for "The Trouble I Love" and "Talk Is Cheap." Before launching into "Talk Is Cheap," Wade told the crowd that this would likely never  happen again, making it all the more special for longtime fans. The raw nostalgia and camaraderie between past and present members electrified the atmosphere, making it one of the most talked-about moments of the night. The set continued with a mix of fan favourites, including "Partners In Crime," "Our Distance," "Bright Lights Keep Shining," and "Final Goodbye," closing out the first part of their set, which saw the band play ten of the eleven tracks off Wake the Dead , with unrelenting force. Following a brief backdrop change, Comeback Kid returned with a set dedicated to their later catalogue, starting with "G.M. Vincent & I" and moving into newer anthems like "Do Yourself a Favor" and "Heavy Steps." However, the real anticipation peaked as they launched into songs from their debut album, Turn It Around , including "Step Ahead" and "All in a Year," and their massive track, "Broadcasting…" After an already exhausting display of hardcore energy, Comeback Kid brought the night to a climactic close with the album’s iconic title track, "Wake The Dead." The entire theatre erupted as fans screamed along, moshed, and two-stepped to every single riff. The song remains just as powerful as it was twenty years ago, a testament to Comeback Kid’s lasting impact on the hardcore scene. Comeback Kid. Photos by Samuel Stevens Photography Comeback Kid’s Wake the Dead 20th Anniversary Show  was more than just a concert—it was a celebration of hardcore history, a reunion of old and new fans from all over the globe making their way to the city, and an unforgettable homecoming for one of Canada’s most beloved hardcore bands. With special guest appearances, nostalgic throwbacks, and relentless energy, the show solidified its place as one of Winnipeg’s greatest hardcore moments. If this opening night was any indication, the rest of the tour is bound to be legendary.

  • Enemy Inside - Venom

Enemy Inside returns with their third studio album, Venom , released via Reigning Phoenix Music on February 28, 2025. The German metal outfit, led by the powerful and charismatic vocalist Nastassja Giulia and rounded out by guitarists Evan K and Dave Hadarik and bassist Dominik Stotzem, continues to evolve their sound, blending modern alternative rock, industrial influences, and metalcore’s intensity into a cohesive, electrifying experience. Following the success of Phoenix  (2018) and Seven  (2021), Venom  cements the band’s identity, pushing their sonic boundaries while staying true to their melodic and heavy roots. From the moment the title track “Venom” kicks in, the album asserts itself as Enemy Inside’s most confident and expansive work yet. The band leans heavily into their signature mix of haunting melodies, anthemic choruses, and crushing breakdowns, refining their ability to balance aggression and accessibility. “Sayonara” is a standout, tackling online criticism with a fiery blend of metalcore riffs and infectious pop-laced hooks, while “Should Have Known Better” encapsulates their knack for fusing explosive instrumentation with catchy songwriting. The album also offers a more introspective side, with the melancholic ballad “What We Used to Be” evoking the emotional weight of bands like Holding Absence and early Paramore. This track provides a beautiful contrast to heavier moments like the track “Dirt On My Name,” which features Siamese's Mirza Radonjica. “Dirt On My Name” introduces R&B elements into the mix, but it's the deathcore elements on the song that further demonstrate the band’s genre-blurring ambition. Enemy Inside has never been afraid to experiment, and with Venom , it's no exception. The high-energy groover “Fuck That Party” features Zak Tell of Clawfinger, a fusion of electrifying synths and hard-hitting drum beats that feels like a club anthem reimagined for the metal scene. Meanwhile, the track “I’d Rather Be Dead,” featuring darkwave and melancholic riffing, adds another layer of sonic depth to the band's eclectic sound, and guest vocals from Davey Suicide inject an eerie, theatrical energy into the mix. One of the album’s strongest elements is its production—every breakdown hits with surgical precision, and the synth elements are seamlessly woven in without overpowering the instrumentation. The closing track, “Let Me Go,” leans further into alternative rock territory with an early 2000s pop influence sprinkled in, proving the band’s ability to shift between styles without losing their core identity. Since their debut, Enemy Inside has drawn inspiration from acts like Bring Me The Horizon, Bad Omens, and Electric Callboy, and Venom  sees them standing confidently alongside their influences rather than merely echoing them. Tracks like “Sayonara” directly confront the comparisons and criticisms they’ve faced, while “Fuck That Party” and “Dirt On My Name” show their willingness to defy expectations and expand their creative reach. With Venom , Enemy Inside delivers their most ambitious and well-rounded release yet. The album is a masterclass in blending melody with heaviness, and its fearless approach to genre fusion makes it an exhilarating listen from start to finish. As they embark on their February and March 2025 headline tour with openers Letters Sent Home, one thing is certain—Enemy Inside is here to stay, and Venom  is the statement piece that proves it. Venom  is Enemy Inside at their most confident, creative, and compelling. It’s an album that both longtime fans and newcomers will find exhilarating, and it showcases a band that refuses to be confined by genre limitations. Whether through its crushing breakdowns, ethereal synths, or anthemic choruses, Venom  leaves a lasting impact and firmly establishes Enemy Inside as one of modern metal’s rising powerhouses. • Caroline Romano - How The Good Girls Die EP

Nashville-based alt-pop singer-songwriter is back with her highly anticipated new EP, How The Good Girls Die. The EP has a six-song tracklist which includes her singles “Body Bag,” and “Born To Want More.” As well as her recently released single, “ IDK These Days.” Ahead of the EP release, I got to ask Caroline a couple of questions, one of the questions I had asked was how she would describe the EP. She said, “I’d describe this EP as both messy yet intentional. To me it’s like a shattered disco ball, lovely yet disastrous, all at the same time. It’s six songs of opposing emotions and contradicting feelings. I think it’s all of the emotions I’ve had as a twenty-something girl walking home after a night out. It’s a little heartbroken and a little ready to take on the world.” I then asked Caroline what the perfect environment was to listen to the EP in and she said, “The perfect listening experience for How The Good Girls Die is on a walk or a drive through your favorite part of town as the sun is starting to set. Or really anywhere you feel the most like yourself. I always like moving and seeing lights and people around me when I’m listening to new music, and I think this project feels like that in many ways. It’s busy and shiny, yet reflective and dark all at the same time.” Starting off the EP strong is “Body Bag” and “Pretty Boyz” the two upbeat songs on the record. The vocals, beat,s and lyrics in both songs make them such great anthems. Slowing it down is “Born To Want More” which begins with guitar chords before her vocals come in. Halfway through the song, the tempo picks up and in the last thirty seconds of the song, it strips down to just vocals and a few strums of the guitar. Caroline describes “IDK These Days” as “Introspective, direct, truthful.” You can really feel all those emotions coming through as the song goes on. Matched perfectly with the strums of a guitar, this song is easily one of my favorites from the EP. “They Say” is a song that Caroline was most excited for fans to hear, “It’s very different, both sonically and lyrically than any song I’ve released before. I think it’s the most surprising one on the project, so I’m really eager to see how listeners react to it,” she shares. The song has a certain ease about it. You can’t help but sit back and enjoy the melodies. The song ends with a voicemail from her grandma wishing her a happy birthday. Last but not least is “How The Good Girl Dies,” it’s the perfect song to end the EP on. One thing I love about this song is how soft Caroline makes her voice along with the piano and subtle guitar strums. There are moments of stillness leading up to each time she sings the words “ how the good girl dies ” and as she sings those words there’s a moment of intensity, which then fades back into the softness. • KALEO, Icelandic Phenomenon, Announces New Album 'MIXED EMOTIONS' Out May 9, 2025, On Atlantic Records

PRE-ORDER MIXED EMOTIONS HERE LISTEN TO SCORCHING NEW SINGLE “BACK DOOR” HERE Icelandic rockers KALEO announced the release of their highly anticipated third studio album, MIXED EMOTIONS on May 9, 2025, via Atlantic Records. The band also announced a US tour with dates including a headline show at Red Rocks and a festival performance at Napa Valley’s BottleRock. See full dates below. Produced by GRAMMY® Award Winner Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Sierra Ferrell) and co-produced by frontman JJ Julius Son and GRAMMY® Award Winner Shawn Everett (The Killers, Kacey Musgraves), MIXED EMOTIONS is a landmark rock album tackling themes from ending gun violence to overcoming despair. MIXED EMOTIONS is KALEO’s most ambitious album yet and it hits hard and digs deep in its mission for us to embrace our full spectrum of emotions during these trying times. “ The theme of MIXED EMOTIONS is kind of going through the various mood swings of life. For me, both mentally and musically,” says JJ. “I don’t like to limit myself to a specific genre and enjoy the freedom to explore where to take my songs sonically. They are each different and require different treatments and approaches. I truly feel there is something for everyone on this album.” Today the band released a new single, “Back Door” – a brooding timeless bluesy rocker, which highlights JJ’s gravelled vocal. Sharing more about the single, KALEO recalls “‘Back Door’ is a song that we’ve had for quite a while. We’d performed it live for years, therefore, many of our fans already know it and have been begging us to record it. We’re very happy to finally put it on tape and make it a part of MIXED EMOTIONS. It’s always been met with such great reception when we've played it and we’re really excited for more people to experience it and add to the energy we feel during the shows.” Work on MIXED EMOTIONS began in March 2023 at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, and was completed in between non-stop touring working with Eddie Spear in Nashville as well as Shawn Everett in LA. It is a passionate artistic statement from a band unafraid to take chances but comfortable with the unique sound they have refined over their many years on the road. " Finding time between two years of heavy touring the band put all their energy into making this album .” album producer Eddie Spear stated, adding, “ JJ in particular dedicated and pushed himself to near destruction to get the vocal performances and arrangements to be as enjoyable as they are. There’s nothing better than making music with your friends and I am so proud to have helped facilitate the production of such a fantastic collection of songs .” Crunching guitars and pounding drums underscore the high-octane, adrenaline-fueled singles, “Rock N Roller,” and “Back Door” - songs which show us how to let the good times roll even when the times are hard. Elsewhere, KALEO displays sonic restraint, drawing inspiration from folk and American roots. On the single “Lonely Cowboy,” they utilize subtle plucked acoustic guitars ringing over haunting pedal steels. Slow building anthem “USA Today,” unleashes a sound more impassioned, and thought-provoking than anything the band has released to date. Throughout JJ’s distinct and inimitable vocals shine, sharing potent stories of overcoming adversity and finding peace within. After amassing over 4+ billion global streams, 60+ international gold, platinum, and diamond certifications, countless sold-out headlining shows, plus appearances at noteworthy festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and more, the GRAMMY® nominated, Icelandic rockers KALEO, have proven to be a worldwide phenomenon. Known for their electrifying live performances, KALEO toured nonstop for 3 years in support of their platinum-selling debut album, A/B , which spawned the megahit “Way Down We Go.” The song has since joined the Spotify Billions club with more than 1.3 billion streams and is featured in nearly 3 million TikToks, cementing it as one of the most viral tracks in the history of the platform. On the heels of its sophomore release, Surface Sounds , the band embarked on their Fight or Flight World Tour coming out of Covid. 2022 saw them perform 97 times in 92 different cities across 22 countries, selling over one-quarter of a million tickets globally. KALEO recently finished their 2024 Payback Tour, selling out famed venues across the globe including Red Rocks and Wembley Arena. 2025 will see the boys touring Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and South America before returning to North America with dates through May 2025. • Milena Casado, Trumpeter, Composer, Producer, Has Announced Her Debut Album 'Reflection of Another Self'

REFLECTION OF ANOTHER SELF DUE MAY 16, 2025, VIA CANDID RECORDS DROPPED TWO SINGLES  “RESILIENCE” + “CIRCLES (RETROSPECTION)” LISTEN HERE Milena Casado, trumpeter, composer, and producer, announces her debut album, Reflection of Another Self , due out May 16, 2025, via Candid Records. Alongside the announcement, she released two singles, “Resilience,” and a shorter interlude “Circles (Retrospection)” –   listen & pre-order the album here.   “Resilience” is an adventurous, modern track that highlights Casado’s production prowess, with vocal loops, spoken word, and her wailing, lyrical trumpet. About “Resilience,” she says “This song is about pushing through. Moments of doubt, moments of struggle - we all have them. But resilience is finding the strength to keep going. Don't give up. Don't let anybody stop you. Believe in yourself. Dream. Laugh. Be happy.” Reflection of Another Self is a stunning first statement that is sonically adventurous and a deeply personal exploration of her identity, overcoming personal traumas including experiencing racism growing up in Spain and grappling with her dual heritage, among other profound topics. It is an adventurous and bold statement from a newcomer who has been honing her skill with luminaries and biding her time, constructing a debut album fit for someone destined to upend the jazz world. Casado has already generated incredible buzz in recent years through her work with Terri Lyne Carrington, Vijay Iyer, Aaron Parks, Kris Davis, and other guiding forces in the music world. Reviewing a set by the pianist Zacchae’us Paul, the New York Times wrote, “Milena Casado, was a revelation.” She was recently featured in the New York Times ’ “5 Minutes to make you love Brazilian Jazz.” ( Read here ) To start, Reflection of Another Self  is a deep dive into one woman’s personal traumas and her journey in processing them and understanding forgiveness. But those stories — of facing down prejudice, of a journey of self-discovery, and ambition — are also profoundly universal. To tell her story, Casado pursues a visionary concept. Reflection of Another Self  is a layered and immersive blend of dreamlike, cinematic electronic textures with outstanding organic performances. Co-produced by Casado with “one of her biggest mentors and friends,” the drummer Terri Lyne Carrington, and the wizardly multi-instrumentalist Morgan Guerin, Reflection of Another Self boasts a dream team of special guests: harpist Brandee Younger, flutist Nicole Mitchell, pianist Kris Davis, sound artist and turntablist Val Jeanty and the MC Kokayi. Meshell Ndegeocello stops by to lay down a bassline on “Self Love,” the meditative closer of pure uplift. Alongside these artists is a core band including some of the finest improvising musicians in the game: pianist Lex Korten, bassist Kanoa Mendenhall, drummer Jongkuk Kim, and Morgan Guerin on EWI. Of course, Casado, a fluidly virtuosic player who attacks a groove with the graceful power of a champion boxer, could have crushed a more conventional acoustic jazz debut. “But that wasn’t what I wanted to do,” she says. “I was really trying to find these sounds that I had in my head, that I hadn’t really heard yet, and see how I could mix them with an acoustic sound, drawing inspiration from Miles' quintet with Wayne Shorter — especially the Miles Smiles LP.” Reflection of Another Self  is the most important achievement yet in Casado’s career, but it’s also the beginning of a bold new aesthetic. “When I began this album, I had all these expectations: It’s my first album; It needs to express exactly who I am ” she says. “But now I see that it’s really just the starting point of a long exploration.” Reflection Of Another Self Tracklist: THIS IS MY HAIR (!) • Killswitch Engage - This Consequence

For over two decades, Killswitch Engage has been a defining force in modern metalcore, seamlessly blending unrelenting aggression with melodic brilliance. With This Consequence , their ninth studio album, which was released on February 21, 2025, via Metal Blade Records, the Massachusetts heavyweights prove once again that they are still at the top of their game, delivering a collection of songs that feel both urgent and deeply personal. The band’s hallmark mix of punishing riffs, soaring choruses, and introspective lyrics remains intact, but This Consequence  also offers a fresh perspective. Vocalist Jesse Leach’s renewed focus on lyricism shines through, tackling themes of love, resilience, societal corruption, and the consequences of human actions. His ability to shift between guttural growls and emotive clean singing remains unparalleled, creating moments of catharsis throughout the album. The album's lead single, “Forever Aligned,” is complete with relentless energy, fusing blistering guitar work from guitarists Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel with anthemic vocal hooks from vocalist Jesse Leach. The song’s message of eternal connection and love’s transcendent power contrasts beautifully with its crushing instrumentation. It’s an instant Killswitch classic. The album's third track, “Aftermath,” slows things down momentarily with an eerily clean intro before erupting into a full-throttle display of controlled chaos. The catchy sung chorus, “We’re reeling from the aftermath, still bleeding from the damage of the past,” encapsulates the album’s overarching theme: reckoning with the past while striving for redemption. Tracks like “Where It Dies” and the album's second single “I Believe” reinforce the band’s ability to blend metal ferocity with melody, something they've come to be known for. While the album's seventh track “Collusion” takes a political turn, criticizing global corruption and manipulation. Leach’s vocal delivery is particularly venomous here, reinforcing the song’s weighty message. Perhaps the most brutal track on the album, “The Fall of Us,” showcases some of the heaviest moments in Killswitch’s career. The song’s chugging riffs and thunderous breakdowns underscore lyrics that metaphorically dissect betrayal and emotional wounds. However, "Broken Glass" keeps up the firey energy. Killswitch Engage’s decision to work together in a rehearsal space rather than remotely paid off tremendously, resulting in an album that feels cohesive, intentional, and electrifying. The chemistry between the band members is palpable as always, elevating This Consequence  to one of the most dynamic-sounding records in their entire catalogue. With This Consequence , Killswitch Engage reaffirms their status as one of metalcore’s most influential acts. It’s a record that not only satisfies longtime fans but also pushes the band’s sound forward, proving that after twenty five years, they still have plenty left to say—and scream. The world initially met her during 2016 as one-fourth of powerhouse BLACKPINK , breaking countless records such as becoming “the only Korean band to headline Coachella , ” “the highest-charting female Korean act on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200” and their ‘Born Pink World Tour’ being the highest-grossing concert tour by a female group and Asian act in history. Renowned for her inimitable style and elite fashion sense, she has graced the covers of countless publications ( Vogue , Rolling Stone , Elle , and more) and collaborated with everyone from Chanel to Adidas to Beats to Gentle Monster . She is a frequent attendee of the Met Gala and Paris Fashion Week with the multiple brands she works with. At the helm of her very own record label and entertainment company ODDATELIER , JENNIE has commenced her next creative chapter. About Doechii: There’s a point on Doechii’s Rap Album of the Year GRAMMY-winning 2024 mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal , when she yells to the heavens, “I’m everythiiiiing!” Her cry hits as a refutation to any who would try to cram her into one genre or identity — the self-anointed Swamp Princess is defining herself just fine. In fact, the Tampa-born, L.A.-based rapper/singer/etc. is one of the most dynamic of her generation, as compelling delivering blunt bars over boom bap as she is cooing affirmations over astral jazz, barking orders over blistering house, or seducing over a radio-conquering R&B jam. In many ways — commercially, critically, personally — Bites is the culmination of the Top Dawg Entertainment/Capitol Records innovator’s wild rise. In 2023 alone: Doechii scored her first RIAA Platinum® plaque and Billboard Hot 100 hit with the viral, “No Scrubs”-sampling “What It Is (Block Boy).” She turned heads again with Eurodance/rap hybrid “Alter Ego,” featuring JT. Next, she played Coachella’s main stage, popped in to perform on Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour, and hit the road with Doja Cat. Before the year was out, she was named a RISING STAR among Women in Music by Billboard (joining Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, et al.), and showed off her acting chops in A24 film Earth Mama . But that was then. More recently, Kendrick Lamar co-signed Doechii as “the hardest out,” Killer Mike said she’s “going to change music forever,” Tyler, the Creator tapped her for Chromakopia , Variety’s Hitmakers gave her the Hip-Hop Disrupter award, and countless critical institutions put Bites on their best-of-2024 lists. She also revealed herself to be a performer par excellence, not only selling out a headlining US/UK/EU tour, but also bringing complex choreo to Colbert , a 10-piece band to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, and a truly jaw-dropping production to the 2025 GRAMMY Awards (where she was also nominated for Best Rap Performance and Best New Artist). Ultimately, though, what’s most impressive about Doechii isn’t simply that she excels at literally every form she explores. It’s that she is at home in her artistry, wherever it takes her. • Glixen - quiet pleasures EP

Phoenix-based shoegaze outfit Glixen returns with their sophomore EP, quiet pleasures , due out February 21, 2025, via AWAL and Wichita Recordings. The five-track exploration of weightless melancholy and immersive noise. Following their breakout with their EP She Only Said (2023), the band has refined their dynamic blend of ethereal melodies and crushing distortion, creating an evocative and deeply textured listening experience. With influences ranging from My Bloody Valentine and Hum to Björk and Godflesh, Glixen continue to push shoegaze into modern territory, crafting soundscapes that are both cavernous and intimately emotional. The EP opens with the track "shut me down," an instrumental overture that sets a haunting tone for what's to come. Wiry, whirling guitars intertwine with a hypnotic bassline, building a dreamlike soundscape that feels both meditative and restless. This seamless entry into the Glixen universe is a prelude to the emotional turbulence that follows. "all tied up" follows and bursts forth with an urgency that showcases the band’s ability to balance raw intensity with delicate beauty. Aislinn Ritchie’s plaintive vocals drift above a wall of guitars that churn with controlled chaos, while Keire Johnson’s drumming provides an anchor to the sonic maelstrom. “There’s a subtle tension that builds throughout with a push and pull between the guitars and vocals,” Ritchie explains, and that ebb and flow is palpable, making for one of the EP’s most emotionally gripping moments. Next is the track, "avoid," and it slows the tempo without sacrificing weight, offering a more introspective take on the band’s signature blend of shoegaze and noise rock. The addition of strong backing vocals adds depth to the track’s hazy, reverb-drenched atmosphere. It’s a brief but deeply affecting moment of reflection amidst the EP’s more turbulent passages. On "sick silent," Glixen lean further into their heavier tendencies. Featuring additional vocals from guitarist Esteban Santana, the track is a suffocating yet strangely comforting experience, like being wrapped in waves of distortion. Ritchie describes it as “a meadow in a dark forest,” evoking a sense of fleeting serenity amid the track’s stormy intensity. Sonny DiPerri’s production ensures that every element—whether it be the adrenaline-inducing percussion, piercing bass lines, or layers of guitars—coexists in a beautifully orchestrated cacophony. The EP closes with "lick the star," a track that begins eerily quiet before erupting into a sonic tempest of feedback and melody. Glixen’s ability to toy with silence and noise is on full display here, creating an ending that feels both cathartic and unresolved, leaving the listener yearning for more. With quiet pleasures , Glixen solidifies themselves as one of the most compelling voices in the modern shoegaze renaissance. Their ability to merge dreamy introspection with an undercurrent of raw, guttural intensity sets them apart from their contemporaries. This EP is not just an evolution but a statement—a declaration that shoegaze, in the hands of Glixen, can be both hauntingly beautiful and powerfully unrelenting. quiet pleasures  is sure to resonate deeply with old fans and new listeners alike.
