Rainsford Returns With New Single "Horse"

FOLLOW UP TO “SEE ME CRY” FROM THE FILM ‘OFF THE RECORD’ HINTS AT A DEBUT ALBUM LATER IN 2025 STREAM + SHARE “HORSE” VIA ALL DIGITAL PLATFORMS

Rainsford, aka Rainey Qualley, returns with her latest single, “Horse,” a first taste from her debut album due later this year on Sparta Distribution. The defiant track about falling for the wrong person was co-written with and produced by Michael Kamerman (Smallpools).

“I am so excited that ‘Horse’ is finally out,” notes Rainsford. “It’s been a favourite song of mine since Michael and I wrote it over two years ago. At the time, I was really struggling in a toxic cycle of falling in and out of love with someone. I felt like I had lost all control, having my heart broken over and over again, and that’s what I put into the music. Like a ‘horse in a trailer on the way to a stall’. To me, the song is full of restlessness and eagerness and longing for someone who hurts.”

“Horse” arrives hot on the heels of Rainsford’s “See Me Cry,” from the feature full-length film Off The Record, starring Qualley and Ryan Hansen, and directed by Kirsten Foe, which arrived in theatres this month. Together, they point to a new creative period for Rainsford after taking some time to focus on being a new mom.

Performing under her full name, Rainsford, Qualley has shown her impressive versatility across a genre of projects rooted in film, television and music. Multi-hyphenate in every sense, she’s a musician, actress, model, writer and creative director. She was hailed by PAPER as “the minimalist weirdo-pop star of your dreams,” carving out her own place amongst the musical landscape over the course of two EPs and numerous singles since 2016.
